Who are we?

Nestled in the beautiful Bayside village of Black Rock, Melbourne, Muscle Freedom is a reputable myotherapy and remedial massage clinic. Our therapists bring a wealth of expertise to the table, and have the experience and professional training to treat a broad range of muscular conditions. Our motto is to treat the cause of our clients’ issues, rather than just the symptoms.

Since opening three years ago, we have built a solid reputation as specialists at treating specific sports-related injuries. We have the privilege of calling some of Bayside’s biggest sporting names our clients, and we value those relationships dearly. Whether you’re a corporate professional suffering from RSI, a tradesperson with back pain, or an Olympic athlete needing regular remedial massage maintenance, we are here to help!

Sam Noble Remedial Massage Therapist

Sam Noble – Remedial Massage Therapist

I am the founder and owner of Muscle Freedom. I have more than 15 years’ experience in sports and remedial massage. My philosophy is to balance my practical, hand-on approach with regular professional development to ensure my technique is always of the highest industry standard.

After obtaining my qualifications at the Australian College of Massage and Natural Therapies, I opened my own clinic in Queensland. After a stint working abroad in Canada and London, I moved to Melbourne and opened Muscle Freedom in Bayside’s beautiful Black Rock in 2013.

My greatest passion is seeing my clients feel and perform their absolute best, thanks to regular remedial massage therapy. I cater treatments to each client’s needs and use trigger-point therapy, deep-tissue massage, dry needling and a range of other techniques to improve muscular health.

Damien Finn Remedial Massage Therapist

Damien Finn – Remedial Massage Therapist

My passion for remedial massage first began in my teens, when I would intuitively massage friends and family. Since then I have gained diplomas in Remedial Massage and Shiatsu, deepening my knowledge of western and eastern health models. To help my clients stay active, I provide comprehensive treatments using a range of effective techniques from both systems – assisting them to excel in their chosen sport, prevent or rehabilitate from injury, to work more productively or simply enjoy more freedom of movement.

Like my late grandmother, a skilled physical therapist, I find great reward in helping clients to improve their range of motion and free themselves from muscular discomfort. I have experience working with athletes, martial artists and weight trainers, and continuously update my skills with ongoing study and development.

Kerrie Baumgartner Remedial Massage Therapist

Kerrie Baumgartner – Remedial Massage Therapist

I have a broad background in elite sport combined with various physical education, management and massage courses. After studying my Bachelor of Applied Science at Victoria University, I went on to complete a Graduate Certificate in Athlete Career Education and Management, plus a Business Certificate.

Over the years, I have worked in various sports and health development roles, such as State Development Officer of Triathlon Victoria and SDO of CycleSport Victoria, combined with Personal Training and coaching roles. My passion for sport is reflected in reaching numerous national and state titles and achieving elite standards in three sports (Athletics-800m, Triathlons and Cycling). This sporting experience has given me a thorough understanding of the human body and how to prevent injuries.

Since graduating with a Diploma of Remedial Massage 8 years ago, I have worked in various physiotherapy clinics and gained invaluable experience. I can combine deep tissue, myofascial release techniques and trigger-point therapy with cupping and dry needling, as required, to enhance healing.

Tom Black Myotherapist & Remedial Massage Therapist

Tom Black – Myotherapist & Remedial Massage Therapist

I developed a passion for massage therapy after several injuries and crashes sidelined me during my cycling career. I have qualifications in Remedial Massage, Sports Massage and Swedish Massage. Back home, on the Isle of Man, I had my own private clinic, ‘TBM Therapy’, and worked with many of the Island’s amateur and professional athletes, including Moto GP ace, Cal Crutchlow.

At the end of 2015, I left the Isle of Man to embark upon a new journey in Australia and further develop my career as a massage therapist. I am currently head trainer for Frankston YCW Football club and am also a trainer at Box Hill Hawks. I am able to tailor my treatments to the specific needs of each client.

Tim Webber Sports Therapist

Tim Webber – Sports Therapist

I found my way into sports therapy and massage through my work as a gymnastics coach. In an effort to improve my coaching, I started reading up on strength training, injury prevention and anatomy. This sparked an interest in learning more about how the body works and prompted me to study sports therapy.

I have a strong interest in injury prevention and believe that regular massage treatments complement your training and help you get the most out of your time training or competing. I enjoy using a range of soft tissue techniques, including dry needling and cupping, along with educating clients to help them achieve their goals.

I have previously worked with AFL footballers and Commonwealth Games gymnasts, as well as in a clinical setting. I’m excited be part of the Muscle Freedom team and to be working and learning from a great group of therapists.

Katherine Cross Remedial Massage Therapist

Katherine Cross – Remedial Massage Therapist

I am a passionate therapist with over 10 years’ experience in the industry. I focus on educating clients about their body and believe that with good body awareness and health movement patterns your body has a greater ability to adapt to treatments and recover more efficiently.

Using my soft tissue knowledge and training in dry needling, cupping, personal training and reformer pilates, I aim to help clients improve their functionality and postural imbalances. I am also proficient in remedial massage, sports massage and pregnancy massage.

I have a Diploma of Remedial Massage Therapy and am a current member of the AAMT. I’m a recognised health care provider with all of the health insurance providers.

Laura Ruaux Myotherapist

Laura Ruaux – Myotherapist

I began working in the U.K sport and fitness industry in my early 20’s, first as a fitness manager for a large private health club and later managing a small privately-owned gym. I became interested in physiology and completed a Sport Therapy qualification before undertaking a BsC Health Science degree in clinical Myotherapy in Australia.

I have worked in a variety of allied health clinics across the Mornington Peninsula. I am particularly interested in neuromuscular and musculoskeletal disorders, which motivated me to undertake the Doctor of Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne.

The key to recovery and injury prevention is gaining a thorough understanding of the person I am treating. This involves an in-depth assessment and ongoing treatment plan, which may involve soft tissue and myofascial techniques like massage, dry needling and mobilisation, as well as exercise prescription and lifestyle advice.
